During the 1930's, Epiphone seemed to be one of the small number of manufacturers to consider jazz music earnestly and they released the Sheraton, a hollow bodied f-hole guitar which allowed guitarists to play as fully as they wished without the feedback they were getting with similar guitars. Then going to 2002 and the release of the Epiphone Elitist Sheraton guitar and Epiphone did the impossible. They made the Sheraton better still.
Finally the original Epiphone Sheraton guitar was replaced in interest by the Gibson ES-355 which was as well introduced in nineteen thirty, although there had been a lot of popular jazz musicians who continued to sing it's praises. But the Sheraton was eventually discontinued in 1970 only to be launched again in the late ninteen eighties. The Epiphone Sheraton II was launched in 1994 as a cheaper guitar that would interest more people. And ultimately, the Elitist line was created in 2003 as a compromise offering that would interest both the price conscious and the expensive Gibson fans.
Every guitar maker has a semi-hollowbody guitar available these days but it's hard to match the classic body style of the Sheraton. And the Elitist version brings style and excellence to new levels. It's definitely a guitar created for the professional guitarist.
